Below, you will learn what personal data the Ministry works with, why we need your personal data, how long the Ministry will process your personal data, and many other useful details.

We provide this information to you under Article 13 of the GDPR. The GDPR is formally titled Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, which repealed Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).

Only regular personal data will be processed. We will not process sensitive data.

Whose personal data are you collecting and processing?

We work with the personal data of individuals interested in participating in hackathons: these are natural persons, such as students, experts, or hackathon enthusiasts.

Why does the application work with my personal data?

We collect and process your personal data to ensure the proper organizational conditions before the hackathon, to register you for the hackathon, to send you an invitation to the hackathon or share competition or other important materials, and to provide you with resources to best “hack” and solve hackathon challenges.

On what legal basis can you work with my personal data?

We always process your personal data on a legal basis under the GDPR. One such basis is the voluntary consent of the data subject to the processing of personal data. This legal basis applies when you check the consent box for processing personal data in the registration form. This legal basis is based on Article 6, paragraph 1(a) GDPR: “The data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes.” The hackathon organizer, Campus City s.r.o., Staré Grunty 18, 841 04 Bratislava, Company ID: 51786133, uses this legal basis.

The Ministry also uses another legal basis, which is the performance of tasks carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority. This legal basis applies when the Ministry processes personal data to prove the correct allocation of funds under the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan mechanism. It is based on Article 6, paragraph 1(e) GDPR: “Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.”

The Ministry operates under Section 25 of Act No. 368/2021 Coll. on the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and its amendments. The Ministry is responsible for implementing investments or reforms in line with the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan, achieving set milestones and targets. One such investment includes hackathons.

Who helps the Ministry process personal data?

The Ministry may provide your personal data to relevant EU authorities that oversee the implementation of measures under the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan, such as the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the Government Audit Office, and the European Commission.

We may also provide your personal data to project partners of the hackathons, i.e., recipients under the Recovery and Resilience Plan who participated in calls for hackathon themes. These include cities, municipalities, higher territorial units, ministries, and central state administration bodies.

Do you provide my personal data to third countries or international organizations?

No, we do not provide your personal data to third countries or international organizations.

How long will you process my personal data, and when will it be deleted?

We will process your personal data for as long as the Hackathons project lasts, i.e., until 2026, and during the project’s sustainability period, i.e., until 2031, but no longer than necessary for oversight and control by relevant EU authorities and bodies.

Project partners (e.g., cities) process participants’ personal data until the last day of the hackathon. After the event, your personal data will be deleted by project partners.

Will you profile me or use automated decision-making that affects me?

No. We will not profile you, monitor your behavior, or draw any conclusions from the data that could negatively impact you.
