Basic information

The fifteenth MIRRI SR hackathon funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic focused on finding an innovative solution for the registration, planning, and coordination of cultural, social, and sports events in the city of Galanta. The challenge was to design a centralized digital system that would allow organizers to clearly plan events, prevent scheduling conflicts, and at the same time provide the public with up to date information about what is happening in the city.

Project goal

The goal of the project was to create a centralized online registry system for municipal, cultural, social, and sports events in the city of Galanta, which would serve as an intelligent digital event guide. The system enabled organizers to clearly plan and coordinate all scheduled events in the city while also providing citizens and the public with a unified, clear, and up to date calendar interface.

The project helped improve public awareness and increase participation in events that enrich the community and social life of the city. At the same time, it simplified the process of creating, managing, recording, and updating event related content, thereby supporting effective communication between the city, organizers, and the public.

Expected results

The proposed solution will provide the city of Galanta with a modern, clear, and efficient tool for managing and presenting all events organized within its territory. By creating a centralized digital system, coordination, information sharing, and citizen participation in the social, cultural, and community life of the city will significantly improve.

Benefits of the new system

  • Better coordination and event planning
    The system will allow all organizers to see planned events in real time, minimizing time and content conflicts. Organizers will be able to plan their events independently while taking the existing calendar into account, contributing to more efficient program planning in the city.
  • Increased public awareness and participation
    The public event calendar will provide residents and visitors with up to date, verified, and clearly filtered information about what is happening in Galanta. With tailored notifications and personalized recommendations, event attendance and overall interest in community activities will increase.
  • Transparency and simplified processes
    An electronic process for submitting and approving events, in compliance with applicable legislation and municipal regulations, will simplify administration for both organizers and the city. Automatic linking between the internal and public versions of the calendar will ensure transparency and up to date published information.
  • Stronger communication between the city, organizers, and citizens
    The application will allow citizens to ask questions, submit suggestions, participate in voting, and rate events. This will create a two way communication channel that strengthens trust, participation, and active public engagement in the city’s civic life.
  • Support for digitalization and innovation
    The solution will contribute to the modernization of municipal services through digital tools such as an interactive map, event archive, reservation systems, integration with social media, and the GalaKARTA loyalty program. The city will gain an intelligent platform that can be further developed.
  • Language accessibility and inclusion
    A trilingual interface (Slovak, Hungarian, English) will ensure that information is accessible to all groups of residents and visitors, strengthening the inclusive nature of the solution.
